Sam Payne: Photos

Here's Caleb and me in the greenroom at the Ft. Worth show. We had a great weekend together.

Timpanogos Storytelling Festival 2007

Beautiful evening, great show. Thanks to the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival for having us. Huge fun.
Josh played a perfect show with us at the Timp festival. So glad to have him.
Drew Williams, out from Nashville to play the Timp Fest with us. We did a number of Drew's tunes that night, and they carried me away.

"Take the Mountain Down," August 2007

The cast of Take the Mountain Down. Left to right: Marvin Payne, Myself, Lacey Williams, Tricia Storey, Robbie Sorenson, and Kendra Lowe. Bluegrass musical retelling of the story of the Prodigal Son. Too, too fun.
Marvin Payne (foreground), Lacey Williams, and Robbie Sorenson at a rehearsal for "Take the Mountain Down."
Lacey Williams and Robbie Sorenson just before the opening of "Take the Mountain Down." We were completely unprepared for how much the audience loved the show. So fun.

Lou Gramm show, July27

Steve and I opened for Lou Gramm of Foreigner at the Sandy Amphitheater on Friday. Good fun after a week of car trouble (Steve hit a deer coming home from Yellowstone, and I was rear-ended in the Black Hills of South Dakota).
My son, Skyler, snapped these photos of our set at the Lou Gramm show in Sandy.

Sandy City, July 4, 2007

Joe Anderson (sound magician--if Joe's behind the board, you stop worrying) ran the 4th of July show, and just today sent along a few photos (right on time. It's cooling down, and good to remember summer days). What a gorgeous night. Thanks, Joe!
Cherie Call and me. Cherie is Joe's wife, and writes songs that could save your life on a dark and stormy night. She favored us by singing "Sunflower" with me on the 4th. Such a pleasure.
Steve, setting up hours before the Sandy show. By showtime, there was nary a patch of lawn to be seen. Steve's holding an old Rickenbocker 12-string (our friend Kevin Jones used to own it). This was its maiden voyage with us. Sounded great.

AF Amphitheater June 25, 2007

Ryan and I at the American Fork Amphitheater. That thing growing out of the back of Ryan's head is an overhead drum mic. In other pics from this show, both overheads appear right behind my head, just like antennae. Antennae with cables. So cool.
Joshua Payne, in American Fork. Never was a kinder, gentler guy such a monster player. Truly from another planet. And to think, when he was a kid he was convinced he'd win the Heisman. Even wrote "we're so proud" speeches for my folks.
I hadn't seen Nic in two years before he showed up to load in for this show. He and the family are in Buffalo, NY, where Nic is in law school. God bless 'em. He plays this cool little nesting kit we always called the X-wing Fighter.

Good fun on the Cabasa at The American Fork Amphitheater
A good lookin' shot of Drew and Lacey in American Fork. Lacey released an EP at this show.

Robert Ferrell house concert

Lorin Kartchner took some nice photos of the house concert at Robert and Lori Ferrell's place. Idyllic evening in an idyllic setting.
Here's the terrific audience at the Ferrell house concert (the right side of it anyway). Thanks, guys!
The left-side folks at Ferrell's place. Thanks to you too!
